Low-flow flushers hot items

STRATFORD - One of the town’s water conservation programs is so popular it has been extended. The Town of Stratford said the rebate program, which began late last year, is going a bit longer. According to Environment Canada, toilet flushing accounts for up to 30 per cent of daily water usage. The replacement of an older, less efficient toilet with a new ultra-low flow toilet can save an average of 62,500 litres of water per person each year. Eligible utility customers again have the opportunity to receive up to two, $100 rebates for the installation of ultra-low flow toilets. While there remains a cap of two rebates per eligible property available for new applicants, those who haven’t accessed a second eligible rebate in the first round can do so now. Any Stratford utility customer, residential and business, are asked to fill out an application form and provide a receipt for both the toilet purchase and disposal of the old toilet.
