Thief strikes in Stratford

Male cut­ting win­dow screens, push­ing win­dows open and en­ter­ing res­i­dences

Queens Dis­trict RCMP are ask­ing Stratford res­i­dents to be ex­tra vig­i­lant af­ter a rash of break ins in the com­mu­nity.

The RCMP said a sin­gle male has been cut­ting screens of open win­dows, push­ing the win­dows open and en­ter­ing res­i­dences.

No one has been hurt or come into con­tact with the bur­glar.

The thief has stolen cash, but no other items have been con­firmed miss­ing.

RCMP of­fi­cers are in­ter­view­ing vic­tims and work­ing with the province’s crim­i­nal in­tel­li­gence ser­vices to pro­file the thief.

The po­lice are ask­ing home­own­ers to be ex­tra vig­i­lant about se­cur­ing their prop­er­ties by mak­ing sure doors and win­dows are locked, and pro­vid­ing out­side light­ing.

Char­lot­te­town po­lice have also no­ticed sim­i­lar types of break and en­ters and are work­ing with the RCMP.
