Lennie Gallant comes home to Rustico for show on Sunday night
Rustico’s own Lennie Gallant will take the stage Sunday, July 26, 8 p.m., for the 21st annual Rendez-vous Rustico concert.
The concert will take place in the special setting at St.-Augustine’s Church in Rustico with doors opening at 7:30 p.m. Gallant will be joined on stage for the concert by family and friends. A renowned Canadian singersongwriter, Gallant has recorded 10 albums (eight in English and two in French), which have won him a host of awards and nominations from the Junos, the East Coast Music Awards and Les Prix Eloizes. He was also recently honored with a 2015 Canadian Folk Music Award for artist of the year for his latest recording, “Live Acoustic at The Carleton”.
An international touring artist who has represented Canada on songwriter events in Nashville, London and Texas, entertained Canadian troops in Kandahar, performed at Canada Day events in Washington and London and on the world stage at the XXI Winter Olympics, Gallant has had his songs recorded by many artists and they have been featured in films, stage productions, and on television.
He also has a book titled “Peter’s Dream” — a collaboration with visual artist and sibling, Karen Gallant.
This summer, he is following up on the success of his 2014 summer-long run at the Confederation Centre of the Arts’ Mack Theatre with his show “Searching For Abegweit - The Island Songs & Stories of Lennie Gallant”. The runaway hit that had 57 sold out shows is now playing at the P.E.I. Brewing Company in Charlottetown.
