OLD CHRISTMAS DAY

Today, Jan. 6, is Christmas Day on the Julian calendar and is still known as “Old Christmas”. Pope Gregory XIII changed Europe to the Gregorian calendar in 1752, which made Christmas come 11 days earlier than it had under the Julian calendar. Today is also Epiphany, the twelfth day of Christmas, commemorating the visit of the wise men to Bethlehem after Jesus’ birth.
