Holland College staff and students are planning a fundraising dinner to help Syrian families settle in P.E.I.

The dinner will take place Friday, Jan. 29 at the Tourism and Culinary Centre in Charlottetown. Net proceeds will go to the P.E.I. Association for Newcomers to Canada to assist Syrian refugees as they settle in Prince Edward Island.

Austin Clement, program manager of culinary and hospitality programs at the Culinary Institute of Canada, said college staff and students are looking forward to the event, not only to raise funds to help the refugees, but also to show them that they are welcome on the Island.

“This event is called Walking with You: A Journey of Love. We want to ensure that the newest members of our Island community know that they have a safe, friendly place to start their new lives,” he said.

Dinner guests will enjoy an array of food and entertainment showcasing the talents of college staff and students. There will also be a silent auction and 5050 draw.

The silent auction and a reception will start at 6 p.m., dinner will be at 6:30.

Tickets are $85 per person and tables of eight can be reserved.
