Police lay charges in Abney shooting incident

Charges have been laid in relation to a violent night in the community of Abney earlier this week.

Kings district RCMP had been called to a residence there about 1 a.m. Tuesday.

Officers found that two men had been fighting, during which time a shot had been fired, but it didn’t strike anyone.

The investigation is continuing, and now some charges have been laid.

“Two firearms-related offences were laid this week (against) one of the males, a 19year-old male,” said Cpl. Troy MacLean of Kings District RCMP.

He said no more information will be released on this case at this time in order to protect the ongoing work of investigators.
