Dut leads UPEI men to vic­tory

Dut Dut had 30 points and 11 re­bounds to pace the host UPEI Pan­thers to a 104-83 vic­tory Fri­day over the Aca­dia Ax­e­men in At­lantic Univer­sity Sport men’s bas­ket­ball ac­tion.

Brad States scored 24 points and grabbed nine boards while se­cond-team all-Cana­dian Tyler Scott had an off-night shoot­ing, but found other ways to be ef­fec­tive. He shot 3-for-16 from the field for eight points but had 12 re­bounds and seven as­sists.

Milo­rad Sed­lare­vic added 16 points for the Pan­thers while Jake Ken­drick chipped in 15 off the bench.

Shaquille Smith paced the Ax­e­men with 19 points.

Aca­dia led 25-21 af­ter the first quar­ter while the game was tied 44-44 at the half.

The teams play again tonight at 8 p.m.


The Aca­dia Ax­e­women had a big se­cond half Fri­day to de­feat the UPEI Pan­thers 80-62 in women’s ac­tion. The Pan­thers held quar­ter leads of 23-16 and 33-26 but were outscored 54-29 in the fi­nal two quar­ters.

Paloma An­der­son led Aca­dia (10-0) with 34 points.

An­ge­nay Wil­liams had 14 points and nine re­bounds for the Pan­thers (2-7) while Kiera Rigby had 11 points and eight as­sists.

The teams meet again in Char­lot­te­town to­day at 6 p.m.
