The funeral for Marlene M. Dewar was held on Tuesday, January 12, 2016, from Ferguson Logan Montague Funeral Home to St. Paul’s Roman Catholic Church, Sturgeon, where the funeral mass was celebrated by Fr. Gerard Chaisson. Organist was Justin Simard. The pall was placed by Ellen Howlett. Eucharisti­c ministers were Nancy Matheson and Sr. Elizabeth Dunn. Music for the mass was: Entrance hymn, Here I Am Lord; psalm, The Lord is My Shepherd; offertory, On Eagles Wings; communion, Be Not Afraid; post communion, Hallelujah; incensing, Songs of the Angels; and recessiona­l, Amazing Grace. Readings were proclaimed by Stephen Dewar and Kristin Daley. Prayers of the Faithful were offered by Jennifer Sirois Curtis. The altar servers were Bernard Farrell, Larry Landrigan, Gerard Landrigan and Frank Senechal. The pallbearer­s were Christophe­r Dewar, Nicholas Dewar, Andrew Dewar, Timothy Dewar, Kyle Howlett and Michael Brothers. Flowerbear­ers were Jennifer Sirois, Lorraine Lannigan, Betty MacDonald, Claudia King, Anne Hawkins and Betty MacDonald. Among those attending the funeral service in a body were teachers and retired teachers from Montague Consolidat­ed School and members of the Prince Edward Island Electrical Inspection Dept. The committal service took place in the Lower Montague Cemetery. Nicholas Dewar read a poem following the prayer service.
