Old library for sale

- BY ERIC MCCARTHY

The chairman of the Alberton Library Board Ltd. expressed optimism recently the library’s former Main Street location will catch the attention of potential buyers.

The Alberton Public Library re-opened in its new location, the Old Stone Station on Railway Street.

The move completes a relocation process, which the town initiated in August.

Although the town has taken over responsibility for library services, the Alberton Library Board Ltd. still owns the old building.

Library services were suspended at the Main Street location in May after flooding in the basement led to air quality issues on the main level.

Repairs were carried out and the library reopened in June.

It closed a week later when air quality issues were detected again.
