Is­land ath­letes per­form well at in­ter­na­tional, re­gional events

Lu­cas Boudreau and Caitlin Camp­bell won their sprint races Satur­day at the North Amer­i­can Cup 3 in La Pa­trie, Que.

An­dré Boudreau fin­ished sev­enth.

On Sun­day, Lu­cas shot 19-for20 and fin­ished se­cond in the pur­suit with An­dré im­prov­ing from the first day to fin­ish fourth. Camp­bell again shot 80 per cent and fin­ished se­cond.

On Jan. 9 and 10, nine Biathlon P.E.I. ath­letes com­peted in the At­lantic Cup 1 in Charlo, N.B.

An­dré Boudreau, Caitlin Camp­bell, Cal­lie Camp­bell and Si­mon Hale were all dou­ble-gold win­ners with many bouts of clean shoot­ing and high per­cent­age shoot­ing.

Other medal­list of the week­end were Lu­cas Boudreau dou­ble sil­ver and Liam El­lis dou­ble bronze.

Com­plet­ing the team was Sean Cordeiro, fifth and sixth, Jo­han Arendz, sixth and fifth, while Rea­gan Mills suf­fered a crash on the first day and was un­able to fin­ish or com­pete the se­cond day.

Lu­cas Boudreau and Caitlin Camp­bell leave Fri­day to join Team Canada for Ro­ma­nia where they will com­pete at the World Youth and Ju­nior Cham­pi­onship.

The rest of the team will be in Mar­tock, N.S., this week­end while the third At­lantic Cup will be held in Brook­vale Jan. 30 and 31.

More than 70 vol­un­teers are re­quired to run the event in Brook­vale and Biathlon P.E.I. is look­ing for help for this event. If in­ter­ested please con­tact Lynn Boudreau at or call 902-675-2176.
