GAUTHIER, Francis Augustine “Chip”
The funeral for Francis Gauthier, beloved husband of Margaret (nee Peters) Gauthier, of North Rustico, was held on Monday, January 11, 2016, at Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church, North Rustico. The presider for the mass of Christian burial was Reverend Paul Egan, who also proclaimed the Gospel and delivered the homily. The pall was placed on the casket by his wife, Margaret Gauthier, and daughters, Lorna Gallant, Colleen Devlin, Marilyn Hughes, Theresa Toombs and Angela MacLeod. The first reading, from Ecclesiastes, was addressed by granddaughter, Melissa Gallant. The second reading, from II Timothy, was addressed by granddaughter, Chloe Toombs. The prayers of the faithful were led by granddaughter, Stacy Devlin. Words of remembrance were given by daughter, Lorna Gallant, and granddaughter, Melissa Gallant. Bulletins were passed out by Andy Turner. The altar servers were Peter Gallant, Curtis Gallant, Norman Gallant and Donnie Gallant. Joan Doiron assisted Father Egan as a eucharistic minister. The music was provided by the church choir with Sister Phyllis Gallant, CND, as organist and Noreen Down as song leader. The hymns were: Entrance, Be Not Afraid; psalm, Psalm of the Good Shepherd, with Noreen Down as cantor; Gospel acclamation, Celtic Alleluia, with Noreen Down as cantor; offertory, Lord, You Have Come; communion, Table of Plenty; post communion, The Last Mile of the Way, sung by Father Egan; commendation, Songs of the Angels; and recessional, How Great Thou Art. Honorary pallbearers were everyone present. Pallbearers were nephews, Pat Gauthier, Trevor Gauthier, Darryl Gauthier, Peter Gauthier, Michael Gauthier and Tony Larkin. Flowerbearers were grandchildren, Melissa Gallant, Alex MacLeod, Jacob MacLeod, Stacy Devlin, Chloe Toombs and Chandler Toombs. Interment took place in Stella Maris Cemetery where Father Egan conducted the committal service. Arrangements were entrusted to Central Queen’s Funeral Home, New Glasgow.
