GAU­THIER, Fran­cis Au­gus­tine “Chip”

The fu­neral for Fran­cis Gau­thier, beloved hus­band of Mar­garet (nee Pe­ters) Gau­thier, of North Rus­tico, was held on Mon­day, Jan­uary 11, 2016, at Stella Maris Ro­man Catholic Church, North Rus­tico. The presider for the mass of Chris­tian burial was Rev­erend Paul Egan, who also pro­claimed the Gospel and de­liv­ered the homily. The pall was placed on the cas­ket by his wife, Mar­garet Gau­thier, and daugh­ters, Lorna Gal­lant, Colleen Devlin, Mar­i­lyn Hughes, Theresa Toombs and An­gela MacLeod. The first read­ing, from Ec­cle­si­astes, was ad­dressed by grand­daugh­ter, Melissa Gal­lant. The se­cond read­ing, from II Ti­mothy, was ad­dressed by grand­daugh­ter, Chloe Toombs. The prayers of the faith­ful were led by grand­daugh­ter, Stacy Devlin. Words of re­mem­brance were given by daugh­ter, Lorna Gal­lant, and grand­daugh­ter, Melissa Gal­lant. Bul­letins were passed out by Andy Turner. The al­tar servers were Peter Gal­lant, Cur­tis Gal­lant, Nor­man Gal­lant and Don­nie Gal­lant. Joan Doiron as­sisted Father Egan as a eucharis­tic min­is­ter. The mu­sic was pro­vided by the church choir with Sis­ter Phyl­lis Gal­lant, CND, as or­gan­ist and Noreen Down as song leader. The hymns were: En­trance, Be Not Afraid; psalm, Psalm of the Good Shep­herd, with Noreen Down as can­tor; Gospel ac­cla­ma­tion, Celtic Al­leluia, with Noreen Down as can­tor; of­fer­tory, Lord, You Have Come; com­mu­nion, Ta­ble of Plenty; post com­mu­nion, The Last Mile of the Way, sung by Father Egan; com­men­da­tion, Songs of the An­gels; and re­ces­sional, How Great Thou Art. Hon­orary pall­bear­ers were ev­ery­one present. Pall­bear­ers were neph­ews, Pat Gau­thier, Trevor Gau­thier, Dar­ryl Gau­thier, Peter Gau­thier, Michael Gau­thier and Tony Larkin. Flower­bear­ers were grand­chil­dren, Melissa Gal­lant, Alex MacLeod, Ja­cob MacLeod, Stacy Devlin, Chloe Toombs and Chandler Toombs. In­ter­ment took place in Stella Maris Ceme­tery where Father Egan con­ducted the com­mit­tal ser­vice. Ar­range­ments were en­trusted to Cen­tral Queen’s Fu­neral Home, New Glas­gow.
