GALLANT, Nelson Joseph

The funeral for Nelson Joseph Gallant, beloved husband of Ethel Ann (nee Gavin) Gallant, of Cascumpec, was held on Wednesday, January 7, 2016 from the Rooney Funeral Home, Alberton to St. Anthony's Church, Woodstock, where the funeral mass was celebrated at 10:30 a.m. by the Rev. Danny Wilson who delivered the homily and had the prayers of final commendation and farewell. The co-celebrant was Rev. Albin Arsenault. The first reading, from the Book of Wisdom 4;7-15, was addressed by Paige Gallant. The second reading, A Letter of Paul to Timothy 4;6-8, was addressed by Andrea Evans. Angela Sharp led the assembly with the Prayers of the Faithfull. The eucharistic ministers were Angela Sharp and Jeanie Bulger. The crucifer was Yvonne Wedge. The candle bearers were Leith Bulger and Donnie Jones. The holy water bearer was Bill Costain. The choir was under the direction of the organist Diane Handrahan. The hymns were: Processional, Be Not Afraid; psalm, The Lord is My Shepherd; offertory, Peace Is Flowing Like A River; communion, Come to The Water; song of farewell, Songs of the Angels; and the recessional, Sing With All The Saints In Glory. Attending the visitation and the funeral liturgy were pupils, staff and former staff from Holland College P.E.I. Everyone present for the funeral liturgy were considered as honorary pallbearers. The active pallbearers were Ron Arsenault, Philip Evans, Blair O'Halloran, Noel Gaudet, Earl Gavin and Fred Murphy. The flowerbearers were step grandchildren, Paige, Mariah and Lucas Gallant, Dominic, Benjamin, Heidi and Josie Arsenault. Interment will later take place in St. Anthony’s Cemetery.
