Speeder charged with breath refusal

-

A Moncton man who was allegedly driving more than 40 km/h over the speed limit has been charged with refusing a breath demand.

On Jan. 21, the RCMP in Cornwall allegedly caught the 35-year-old man driving more than 100 km/h in a 60 km/h zone in a residential part of Cornwall.

The RCMP said the driver showed signs of alcohol consumption and when officers demanded breath samples for a roadside screening he refused. His registration was also expired at the time.

Refusing to provide a breath sample carries the same penalties as impaired driving.

The RCMP reported it was snowing and visibility was limited at the time.

The driver will appear in provincial court in March.
