’Canes play at home tonight

Hol­land Col­lege Hur­ri­canes bas­ket­ball fans get their first chance to see their team on home court in 2016 to­day.

The teams host the Univer­sity of Kings Col­lege Blue Devils to­day at 3 (women) and 5 (men) p.m. and Sun­day at 1 (women) and 3 (men) p.m.

The women Hur­ri­canes en­ter the week­end lead­ing the At­lantic Col­le­giate Ath­letic As­so­ci­a­tion with an 8-1 record while the Blue Devils (1-9) are sev­enth.

The Hol­land Col­lege squad has won seven in a row and is ranked fourth na­tion­ally.

This will be the first home ac­tion for Sarah Steele (Char­lot­te­town), Can­dace Smith (New Mi­nas, N.S.), Mil­ca­nia Di­azRo­jas (Toronto) and Chris­handa Rah­ming (Nas­sau, Ba­hamas), who joined the Hur­ri­canes for the se­cond se­mes­ter.

The men Hur­ri­canes (11-0) are ex­pect­ing a tough test this week­end as they take on the se­cond place Blue Devils (10-2).

The Hur­ri­canes, ranked se­cond na­tion­ally, took their last meet­ing on Nov. 29 in Hal­i­fax.
