The death oc­curred peace­fully, af­ter an ex­ten­sive ill­ness, on Jan­uary 16, 2016, of John Daniel “Dolph” MacIn­tyre of Goose River, P.E.I. Born on Father’s Day 1929, he was the beloved father of John MacIn­tyre and his wife Va­lerie of Al­berta, Canada; David MacIn­tyre and his wife Jac­que­line, and Daniel Macin­tyre and his wife Michelle, all of Mas­sachusetts, United States. De­voted grand­fa­ther (a.k.a. Dad’s Dad) to Emily Macin­tyre and James Macin­tyre also of Mas­sachusetts, United States. Sur­vived by his sis­ters, Florence, Gla­dys and Marie, as well as nu­mer­ous nieces and neph­ews. Pre­de­ceased by his par­ents, An­gus and Teresa; sis­ters, Teresa and Mary; brothers, Robert, Peter and Ron­ald (Jay). John was a U.S. Army vet­eran tank in­struc­tor, held a Mas­sachusetts Real Es­tate sales­man’s li­cense, was co­founder of an East Bos­ton based Con­struc­tion Com­pany that bore his name and was a mem­ber of the Mas­sachusetts Car­pen­ters Union. Re­tired from Pub­lic Works P.E.I. af­ter many years in the Fa­cil­i­ties Depart­ment, John en­joyed serv­ing the com­mu­nity at the Goose River Build­ing (The Blue­berry Build­ing), Goose River, P.E.I. help­ing to host so­cial events, weekly “Olde Tyme Dances” and card plays, his fa­vorite. He en­joyed fam­ily and friends, na­ture and life on the North­side, travel and sto­ry­telling, an­tiquing and he couldn’t re­sist a good yard sale. Rest­ing at the Dr. Rod­die Com­mu­nity Cen­ter for visi­ta­tion on Wed­nes­day, Jan­uary 27, 2016 from 4 to 7 p.m. Fu­neral to take place on Thurs­day, Jan­uary 28, 2016 at 10 a.m. at St. Peter’s Ro­man Catholic Church, St. Peter’s Bay. In­ter­ment in the parish ceme­tery. In lieu of flow­ers, me­mo­rial do­na­tions are ap­pre­ci­ated and can be made in John’s mem­ory to St. Peter’s Bay Ro­man Catholic Church ceme­tery fund, to the Can­cer So­ci­ety or to help adults with autism to: Ju­min, Inc.
