Long­time NFL ex­ec­u­tive dies

Ge­orge Boone, a long­time player per­son­nel ex­ec­u­tive for the Ari­zona Car­di­nals, has died at the age of 77.

Boone was the team’s di­rec­tor of player per­son­nel from 1973 to 1991. He served as the team’s as­sis­tant per­son­nel di­rec­tor for the pre­ced­ing five years.

Boone also was di­rec­tor of player per­son­nel for In­di­anapo­lis from 1994 to 1997 and Colts di­rec­tor of col­lege scout­ing in 1998 and 1999.

He re­turned to the Car­di­nals as a scout from 2001 un­til his re­tire­ment in 2006.

Boone is sur­vived by his wife of 56 years, Dorothy, five chil­dren and 14 grand­chil­dren.
