International competition
The World Sledge Hockey Challenge is coming to Charlottetown in December. “To think that I might have the chance to play in front of my family and friends gives me the chills,” said Summerside native Billy Bridges, who leads the team in goals at this year’s competition in Nova Scotia. “No matter where we get to wear the (Team Canada) jersey, it’s always a great honour to represent your country. No doubt, the fans in P.E.I. will be behind our team.” The Charlottetown tournament, which will be played at MacLauchlan Arena from Dec. 4 to 11, will be used as a tune-up for the world championships. MacLauchlan Arena hosted the challenge in 2008 and 2009.
