Peacefully at his home in Charlottet­own on Sunday, January 24, 2016 of Rupert Chandler of Charlottet­own, Veteran of the Second World War, age 91 years. Beloved husband of the late Frances (McA leer) Chandler, and dear father of John Murray (Linda), Michael (Alison), Margaret Chandler, Allan (dec) (Beryl), David (dec) and Pamela MacNevin (dec) (Darrell dec). Loving Grampy to Mark and Ryan Chandler, Roberta and Jason MacNevin, Mike Chandler, Gregory, Robert and Danielle Chandler and Great Grampy to numerous greatgrand­children. Special uncle to Mary Chandler and Sylvia Thistle. Rupert was the last surviving member of his immediate family, being predecease­d by his parents, Richard and Melinda (Gallant) Chandler, and siblings, George, Sandy, Priscilla, Helen, Ernie, Florence and Wallace. Resting at the Hennessey Cutcliffe Charlottet­own Funeral Home until Thursday morning, then transferre­d to St. Dunstan’s Basilica for funeral mass at 10 a.m. Interment will take place later in the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Charlottet­own. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday from 6 to 9 p.m. Charlottet­own Branch #1 of the Royal Canadian Legion will hold a veterans tribute at the funeral home on Wednesday at 5:45 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributi­ons in memory of Rupert may be made to the P.E.I.
