Peace­fully at his home in Char­lot­te­town on Sun­day, Jan­uary 24, 2016 of Rupert Chandler of Char­lot­te­town, Vet­eran of the Se­cond World War, age 91 years. Beloved hus­band of the late Frances (McAleer) Chandler, and dear father of John Mur­ray (Linda), Michael (Ali­son), Mar­garet Chandler, Al­lan (dec) (Beryl), David (dec) and Pamela MacNevin (dec) (Dar­rell dec). Lov­ing Grampy to Mark and Ryan Chandler, Roberta and Ja­son MacNevin, Mike Chandler, Gre­gory, Robert and Danielle Chandler and Great Grampy to nu­mer­ous great-grand­chil­dren. Spe­cial un­cle to Mary Chandler and Sylvia This­tle. Rupert was the last sur­viv­ing mem­ber of his im­me­di­ate fam­ily, be­ing pre­de­ceased by his par­ents, Richard and Melinda (Gal­lant) Chandler, and sib­lings, Ge­orge, Sandy, Priscilla, He­len, Ernie, Florence and Wal­lace. Rest­ing at the Hen­nessey Cut­cliffe Char­lot­te­town Fu­neral Home un­til Thurs­day morn­ing, then trans­ferred to St. Dun­stan’s Basil­ica for fu­neral mass at 10 a.m. In­ter­ment will take place later in the Ro­man Catholic Ceme­tery, Char­lot­te­town. Vis­it­ing hours will be held on Wed­nes­day from 6 to 9 p.m. Char­lot­te­town Branch #1 of the Royal Cana­dian Le­gion will hold a veter­ans trib­ute at the fu­neral home on Wed­nes­day at 5:45 p.m. In lieu of flow­ers, con­tri­bu­tions in mem­ory of Rupert may be made to the P.E.I.
