Prince Edward Island wrestlers continue their season with some strong performances recently at major tournaments.

Charl o tt etown’s Trevor Banks of Concordia showed why he is the No. 1-ranked Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) wrestler in his 54-kg division by winning both the Brock open at St Catherine’s, Ont., and the Western open in London.

Banks has been in outstanding form this year and won both events handily, adding the titles to his victories earlier this season at the McMaster invitational and the York University open.

Banks was the 2015 CIS silver medal winner.

Summerside’s Ligrit Sadiku, wrestling for Western at 57kg, won a bronze at the Western open.

Summerside’s Hannah Taylor also continued her fine form by winning the 55-kg division at the Guelph open, her second major win against CIS-calibre wrestlers of the year.

Veronica Keefe, wrestling for the Montreal YMHA, finished in third place in the 75-kg division.
