The fu­neral for Ger­maine Buote, of North Rus­tico, was held on Tues­day, Jan­uary 26, 2016, at Stella Maris Ro­man Catholic Church, North Rus­tico. The presider for the mass of Chris­tian burial was Rev­erend Paul Egan, who also pro­claimed the Gospel and de­liv­ered the homily. The pall was placed on the cas­ket by her chil­dren, Kelly Buote, Lisa Buote, Mary-Lou Cook and Ryan Buote. The first read­ing, from Ec­cle­si­astes, was ad­dressed by niece, Shelby Gal­lant. The se­cond read­ing, from II Ti­mothy, was ad­dressed by grand­daugh­ter, Abby-Gail Buote. The prayers of the faith­ful were led by niece, Judy Gal­lant. Words of re­mem­brance from the fam­ily were read by Father Egan. Bul­letins were passed out by Andy Turner. The al­tar servers were Joan Doiron, Nancy Gal­lant, Faye Fyfe and Estelle Bour­geois. Nor­man Pe­ters as­sisted Father Egan as a eucharis­tic min­is­ter. The mu­sic was pro­vided by the church choir with Sis­ter Phyl­lis Gal­lant, CND, as or­gan­ist and Noreen Down as song leader. The hymns were: en­trance, Be Not Afraid; psalm, Psalm of the Good Shep­herd, with Noreen Down as can­tor; Gospel ac­cla­ma­tion, Celtic Al­leluia, with Noreen Down as can­tor; of­fer­tory, Seek Ye First; com­mu­nion, Ta­ble of Plenty; post com­mu­nion, I’ll Fly Away, sung by the Star of the Sea Se­niors Cho­rale; com­men­da­tion, Songs of the An­gels; and re­ces­sional, How Great Thou Art. Hon­orary pall­bear­ers were Stella Maris Choir mem­bers. Pall­bear­ers were grand­sons, Jamie Buote, Tay­lor Buote and Jared Cook, and friends, Louis Gal­lant, David Blac­quiere and Randy Pineau. Flower bear­ers were nieces, Shel­ley Camp­bell, Kyra Gau­thier and Shelby Gal­lant. In­ter­ment will take place at a later date in Stella Maris Ceme­tery. Ar­range­ments were en­trusted to Cen­tral Queen’s Fu­neral Home, New Glas­gow.
