The funeral for Germaine Buote, of North Rustico, was held on Tuesday, January 26, 2016, at Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church, North Rustico. The presider for the mass of Christian burial was Reverend Paul Egan, who also proclaimed the Gospel and delivered the homily. The pall was placed on the casket by her children, Kelly Buote, Lisa Buote, Mary-Lou Cook and Ryan Buote. The first reading, from Ecclesiast­es, was addressed by niece, Shelby Gallant. The second reading, from II Timothy, was addressed by granddaugh­ter, Abby-Gail Buote. The prayers of the faithful were led by niece, Judy Gallant. Words of remembranc­e from the family were read by Father Egan. Bulletins were passed out by Andy Turner. The altar servers were Joan Doiron, Nancy Gallant, Faye Fyfe and Estelle Bourgeois. Norman Peters assisted Father Egan as a eucharisti­c minister. The music was provided by the church choir with Sister Phyllis Gallant, CND, as organist and Noreen Down as song leader. The hymns were: entrance, Be Not Afraid; psalm, Psalm of the Good Shepherd, with Noreen Down as cantor; Gospel acclamatio­n, Celtic Alleluia, with Noreen Down as cantor; offertory, Seek Ye First; communion, Table of Plenty; post communion, I’ll Fly Away, sung by the Star of the Sea Seniors Chorale; commendati­on, Songs of the Angels; and recessiona­l, How Great Thou Art. Honorary pallbearer­s were Stella Maris Choir members. Pallbearer­s were grandsons, Jamie Buote, Taylor Buote and Jared Cook, and friends, Louis Gallant, David Blacquiere and Randy Pineau. Flower bearers were nieces, Shelley Campbell, Kyra Gauthier and Shelby Gallant. Interment will take place at a later date in Stella Maris Cemetery. Arrangemen­ts were entrusted to Central Queen’s Funeral Home, New Glasgow.
