The fu­neral for Mary Rita MacDon­ald was held on Thurs­day, Jan­uary 7, 2016, at 11 a.m., at St. Columba Church, Fair­field. The fu­neral mass was cel­e­brated by Father Jim Wil­lick, who also pro­claimed the Gospel and de­liv­ered the homily. Her daugh­ter, Glo­ria Crock­ett, gave the first read­ing and her son, Don­nie MacDon­ald, gave the se­cond read­ing. Her daugh­ter-in-law, Ni­cole MacDon­ald, led the Prayers of the Faith­ful. Hon­orary pall­bear­ers were: Ste­wart and Velma Cameron, Mary (Frankie) MacDon­ald, Joe and Mar­garet Gil­lis, Rose Chev­erie, Mary Har­ris, Bertha McCor­mack, Peggy Nowlan, Anna Mae Mul­lally, Colville Manor Rosary Group and res­i­dents and staff of Lupin Lane. The pall­bear­ers were her grand­sons, Stephen Flynn, Bryan Flynn, Aaron Flynn, Ron­nie MacDon­ald, Ben MacDon­ald, Kenny Gal­lant, Jake MacDon­ald, Sam Crock­ett, Lu­cas MacDon­ald and Will MacDon­ald. The flower­bear­ers were her grand­daugh­ters, Pam Yafai, Ch­eryl Ed­munds, Meaghan Flynn, Emily Gal­lant, Ab­bie MacDon­ald, Beth MacDon­ald, Alina Crock­ett and Amelia MacDon­ald. Billy Har­ris, Ron­nie Camp­bell, Ger­ard Chev­erie and Richard Rose were al­tar servers. Mu­sic was pro­vided by vo­cal­ists Rika Chev­erie (in­stru­men­tal­ist), Irene Power and Rachael Chev­erie. Hymns were: en­trance, Be Not Afraid; of­fer­tory, Come to the Wa­ter; com­mu­nion, In The Gar­den; re­ces­sional, Thank You Lord; and post com­mu­nion, Hail Mary, Gen­tle Woman, sung by the Chais­son sis­ters with or­gan­ist Mary MacDon­ald. In­ter­ment was made in the St. Columba Ceme­tery with the com­mit­tal ser­vice con­ducted by Fr. Jim Wil­lick.
