The funeral for Mary Rita MacDonald was held on Thursday, January 7, 2016, at 11 a.m., at St. Columba Church, Fairfield. The funeral mass was celebrated by Father Jim Willick, who also proclaimed the Gospel and delivered the homily. Her daughter, Gloria Crockett, gave the first reading and her son, Donnie MacDonald, gave the second reading. Her daughter-in-law, Nicole MacDonald, led the Prayers of the Faithful. Honorary pallbearer­s were: Stewart and Velma Cameron, Mary (Frankie) MacDonald, Joe and Margaret Gillis, Rose Cheverie, Mary Harris, Bertha McCormack, Peggy Nowlan, Anna Mae Mullally, Colville Manor Rosary Group and residents and staff of Lupin Lane. The pallbearer­s were her grandsons, Stephen Flynn, Bryan Flynn, Aaron Flynn, Ronnie MacDonald, Ben MacDonald, Kenny Gallant, Jake MacDonald, Sam Crockett, Lucas MacDonald and Will MacDonald. The flowerbear­ers were her granddaugh­ters, Pam Yafai, Cheryl Edmunds, Meaghan Flynn, Emily Gallant, Abbie MacDonald, Beth MacDonald, Alina Crockett and Amelia MacDonald. Billy Harris, Ronnie Campbell, Gerard Cheverie and Richard Rose were altar servers. Music was provided by vocalists Rika Cheverie (instrument­alist), Irene Power and Rachael Cheverie. Hymns were: entrance, Be Not Afraid; offertory, Come to the Water; communion, In The Garden; recessiona­l, Thank You Lord; and post communion, Hail Mary, Gentle Woman, sung by the Chaisson sisters with organist Mary MacDonald. Interment was made in the St. Columba Cemetery with the committal service conducted by Fr. Jim Willick.
