Four artists from the original Howes Hall Gallery are once again reinventing themselves with a two-week exhibition of their work at The Guild in Charlottetown, entitled Side by Each. They have been invited to showcase their new work at The Guild from July 27_ Aug. 7.

Betty Jenkins, a well-known watercolourist and mixed media artist, will present her new series of work. Her extensive travels have influenced her themes, techniques and palette. The primitive hooked rugs of Mary Ploughman Jones continue to delight the viewer with originality, whimsy and colour. Her creations are the result of her intensive attention to composition and craft. Linda Shaw Packard’s recent watercolours, acrylic and mixed media paintings will be shown. Her recent announcement of her retirement from teaching art in the public school system is the signal for her fans to anticipate a new wave of Mary Roscoe Murphy Robertson’s experimentation.

work underlines this new wave and she will be exhibiting her unique abstract acrylics. Artists Betty Jenkins, left, Mary Ploughman Jones, Linda Shaw Packard and Mary Roscoe Murphy Robertson are excited about their show at The Gallery @ the Guild starting July 27.

More than 10 years ago the artists began their creative journey together. From their beginnings as participants in the P.E.I. Studio Tour, to the North Winds Exhibition and then six successful years operating Howes Hall Gallery, they have evolved both as a group and individually. Recently they have exhibited at The Watermark Theatre Gallery and now move on to this new venue with a different exciting vibe.

Side by Each reflects the mutual evolution of individual artistic paths.

“This special relationship is easily identifiable in this new lyrical exhibition of mature, exciting work. The pieces complement and contrast one with the other and celebrate both a professional and personal cohesion,” a news release states.

Throughout the exhibition, the artists will be at The Guild Gallery to discuss their work and give on-site demonstrations.

For more information, contact The Guild at 902-368-4413 or follow social media for demonstration times.
