Country Hoedown presents old time tunes and country classics songs

The Thursday night Country Hoedown at the Jack Blanchard Centre, Pond St, Charlottet­own July 28 starting at 7:30 p.m. features, guest host Roy MacCaull, and joining him will be country singers Marcella Richard and Jolee Patkai as fiddler David Thompson. as well

MacCaull was the host of the popular Cable 10 TV show Community Showcase which spanned over a period of 10 years. He will be singing old classic country as well as some of his own material.

Richard grew up in Mount Carmel, in the Evangeline area of P.E.I. She has been involved in theater and music for years with performanc­es enjoyed by audiences in the Martimes, across Canada, the U.S. and France. Richard is a great country singer, loves to sing the old country classics. She will be singing covers from a variety of great artists of their time, songs that Marcella loves to sing.

Patkai, another country singer is a very busy lady performing with a variety of groups such as Treble with Girls, The Ladies of the Century as well as doing solo gigs at benefits and ceilidhs. She will also be doing Marcella Richard, left, and Jolee Patai will join Roy MacCaull and David Thomson to perform country classics at the Jack Blanchard Centre on July 28. old country classics and singing covers from a variety of artists.

Thomson will be playing traditiona­l fiddle tunes and providing an opportunit­y to dance the night away with round dancing and old time Waltzing. Bring dancing shoes as there is lots of room for dancing.

The hoedown starts at 7:30 p.m. with a portion of the proceeds going to support Special Olympics P.E.I. There will be a 50/50 draw, as well as canteen service available. The centre offers lots of parking and is wheelchair accessible. Tickets are $10 at the door with doors opening at 6:30 p.m.
