Arrest made in O’Leary fire

-

A 24-year-old from O’Leary is remanded in custody until a show cause hearing on Friday after being charged with arson in connection with a recent residential fire in O’Leary.

RCMP had been called to a report of a disturbance at the O’Leary residence Friday and when they arrived, officers observed an orange glow through a kitchen window and contacted the O’Leary Fire Department. Fire damage to the residence, said Sgt. Darrell Gill with Prince District RCMP, was extensive.

The investigation into the fire led to the arrest of Alexander Sheldon Collicutt. He has been charged with one count of arson as well as two counts of property damage in connection with incidents in the West Prince area during the past two weeks.

Gill said those charges relate to a broken window in an outbuilding at an O’Leary business and a broken car window.

Collicutt appeared before a justice of the peace in Summerside on Tuesday and was remanded in custody until Friday’s show cause hearing.
