Loretta Diane FergusonSa­ksena, a vivacious, accomplish­ed and philanthro­pic lady, died on September 22, 2016, in her sixty seventh year, at Sloan Kettering Memorial Hospital, New York. Diane was born in Montague, Prince Edward Island, Canada. She was the eldest daughter of Ellsworth Ferguson and Audrey Mary Joan O’Brien, who predecease­d her. Diane was also the loving daughter of Russell Joseph Parkman Fraser, who married her mother after her natural father passed away prematurel­y at age 28. Diane leaves behind her parents-in-law Kailash and Jagdamba Saksena (New Delhi, India), her husband Sanjeev, sister Deborah Ferguson (New Hope, PA), sister and brotherin-law Anuradha and Kush Verma (New Delhi), nephew Ankush Verma, nieces Anushka and Sanya Verma (New Delhi), cousins Dennis, George, John and Paul Ferguson, their wives and family (Murray River, PE and St. Andrew’s, NB), goddaughte­r Pamela Mackenzie (Halifax, NS), cousins-in-law Rashmi, Madhavi, Pammi, Nandini, Ritu, and Preeti ( Bombay, New Delhi, Calcutta, and Philadelph­ia) and their spouses and families. Diane used her gifts of compassion, generosity of spirit, empathy and warmth to touch everyone she encountere­d. Despite her constant battles with health issues, it was important to her to maintain and connect with friends and family around the world. Diane’s entire family and friends will miss her ability to make people smile, her sense of humor, and her unselfish and giving nature. A Visitation/Memorial Reception will be held on Thursday, September 29th at Belvedere Funeral Home in Charlottet­own, Prince Edward Island, Canada, from 4 to 7 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Father Gerard Chaisson at St. Mary’s Parish, Montague, PEI, on Friday September 30th at 10:30 a.m, followed by a Reception. Her pall bearers in Canada will be Dennis Ferguson, Paul Ferguson, John Ferguson, Kush Verma, William Ferguson, Christophe­r Ferguson and Frederick Buell. Memorial services will also be held in the USA at Our Lady of the Mount Chapel, Warren, NJ on October 8th at 3 p.m., followed by a Remembranc­e Reception at Diane and Sanjeev’s home at 33 Fairway Drive, Green Brook, NJ. Flowers may be directed to the Belvedere Funeral Home, Charlottet­own, PEI. Charitable donations may be made in the USA to the Mountainsi­de Hospital School of Nursing, Montclair, NJ and in Canada to the Royal Canadian Legion Montague Branch No. 8 Poppy Fund.
