Whisky thief sent to jail
A 39-year-old man who stole a bottle of whisky from a liquor store has been sentenced to 30 days in jail.
Mark Adam MacKinnon appeared before Chief Judge Nancy Orr in provincial court in Charlottetown where he pleaded guilty to the theft.
The court heard staff at the Stratford liquor store caught MacKinnon after he put a pint bottle in his back pocket and tried to leave with it.
When they later reviewed surveillance video, staff saw MacKinnon also put a bottle of whisky they hadn’t noticed in his waistband. MacKinnon, who was already in custody on other matters, will serve his time consecutive to any other sentence.
