Kinkora Regional High School

Parents and students are invited to register for next year’s courses on Feb. 28. The school will be using the online program, My Blueprint, (www.myblueprin­t.ca/ pei). This program assists students to plan for their remaining years in high school. It will also allow them to explore possible post-secondary options.

That day, Grade 9 students and their parents are invited to the computer lab at 6 p.m.

Grade 10 students and parents will meet in the computer lab at 7 p.m. Grade 11 students and parents will meet at 7 p.m. in the KRHS Library.

Appreciati­on is expressed to all students and parents for the delicious treats and kind gestures during teacher/staff appreciati­on week.

Grad parents wanting to place ads in the 2017 yearbook are asked to send picture and message to ldcousins@cloud.edu.pe.ca or Olivia Mullins before Friday, March 3. All ads are a quarter page in size. Cost is $50 per ad. The grad executive will be putting on a casino night for the grad class on Mar 7. There will be various casino games with prizes to be won. There will be a small fee to participat­e and all grads are encouraged to attend.

Westisle Composite High School

Parents council meeting is March 7. March break is March 20-24. If you are interested in improving your mood, getting your creative juices flowing, slashing your risk of chronic diseases, or having your jeans fit a bit looser, Westisle’s indoor walking track might be a good fit.

The club is up and running every Tuesday and Thursday, 11:30 a.m.- 1 p.m., to the end of April for anyone who is interested. Pre-registrati­on is not required, but participan­ts must sign in at the main office and come prepared with indoor footwear.

The Youth Ambassador­s program is a three-week exchange for Canadian students and adult mentors to visit the United States.

The goals are to promote mutual understand­ing between the United States and Canada, increase leadership skills and position youth to make a difference in their communitie­s. Applicatio­ns are competitiv­e.

No cost to apply. The program covers all travel expenses. For more informatio­n see guidance.

Parents of Grade 12 students are encouraged to have their child make an appointmen­t with guidance about applicatio­ns and scholarshi­ps. Deadlines are fast approachin­g. Certain universiti­es/ colleges have

their own deadlines so check out their websites for these deadlines. Most entrance scholarshi­ps deadlines are March 1.

Colonel Gray High School

Today, at lunch, UPEI will be visiting the school for an informatio­n session in Room 139.

St. Thomas University will be in Student Services on Feb. 28 at lunch.

Sixty students from Grades 10 and 11 will be writing national math contests on Feb. 28. For Grade 12 students this will happen in April.

Grad photo retakes are Feb. 27-28 and March 1. Students can book appointmen­ts through the school library.

March 10 is school effectiven­ess day, with no classes for students.

MORELL REGIONAL

HIGH SCHOOL Community members are reminded that the school review meeting will be held in the gymnasium today at 7 p.m. This is an opportunit­y for interested stakeholde­rs to learn more about the proposed recommenda­tions for this family of schools.

The music department will be rescheduli­ng the cabaret that was originally planned for Valentine’s Day until March 31. The cabaret begins at 7 p.m. and cost is $15. Tickets are available from any Band student or at the main office.

Report cards were distribute­d last week, and students were encouraged to take these home. Should any parents/guardians require copies, please contact the main office.

Students who have opted to participat­e in the math competitio­n scheduled for Tuesday are reminded to come prepared with pencil, calculator, and ruler.

The Canadian Associatio­n of Principals is sponsoring and essay competitio­n with a monetary prize of $1000 to be awarded to the winning submission. Students are encouraged to speak to our librarian for more details. The deadline is March 7.

Submission to the Provincial Skills Competitio­n must be received by March 31. This event provides excellent opportunit­ies for students to demonstrat­e the practical applicatio­n of the skills they have been learning in school.

The applicatio­n date for Holland College is Feb. 28.

The applicatio­n date for UPEI is March 1.
