With fewer than 50 days until BridgeFest 150, event organizers are feeling the excitement.

On Thursday, Strait Crossing Bridge Ltd. and other partners in the event released further details of the celebration, which is going to be multicultural and familyoriented, said Danette Murray, the project administrator for BridgeFest 150.

Among the highlights was the unveiling of the IWK Run for Families medal that run participants will receive at the end of the race as well as the official race shirt and customizable T-shirt available on the run’s website.

“People can go online and design their own shirts from the template we’ve made, but we also have our official shirt,” said Liz LeClair senior manager, community and corporate giving at IWK Foundation. “It’s in red to celebrate Canada’s birthday and will be the shirt provided to all of the runners.

“Our official medal is absolutely stunning. The most exciting thing at the end of a run is getting your bling. We’ve worked very hard to include everyone on this medal.”

The three-day event, June 1618, includes a fireworks display and a concert in Summerside, as well as a series of stations and activities in Gateway Village. There’s also a BridgeFest 150 car that’s up for grabs for participants to win.

Dean Sexton, mayor of Borden–Carleton, is looking forward to seeing the area full of Canadians.

“I think over the next few days

people are going to get more excited. But it will be really cool to see huge numbers of people, both Islanders and others, coming together.”
