Raising money for land

-

The Island Nature Trust and the P.E.I. Liquor Control Commission are teaming up to fundraise the purchase price for two woodland blocks in the eastern and western parts of the province.

The “P.E.I., Ours to Protect” campaign runs until May 10.

Participating suppliers of beer, wine and spirits will donate up to $1 from their sales at PEILCC retail outlets to Island Nature Trust. Signage promoting this initiative – including the featured products – can be found in all 18 P.E.I. liquor retail outlets across the province.

This is the second year of a five-year commitment by the PEILCC, which raised $15,337 last year.

Island Nature Trust is the oldest private land trust in Canada, established in 1979 to protect and conserve natural areas on P.E.I. It now owns 3,810 acres of land in 43 natural areas, almost all of which is designated under the P.E.I. Natural Areas Protection Act and open to the public for natural space enjoyment.
