Taking your phone abroad? Prepare for it.

While it’s easy and relatively inexpensive to set up a global call/data plan with your carrier, you can opt for the cheaper Wifi-only option. Some advice from Travel guru Rick Steves: “More budget-conscious travelers can forego their carrier’s international plans altogether and do everything over Wi-Fi. Not only can you use Wi-Fi to get online, but you can also make phone calls and send text messages at no charge. Sounds great — but you’ve got to find a hotspot first.” Source: www.ricksteves.com
