Online campaign to help family of motorcycle crash victim

- BY MITCH MACDONALD

An online crowdfunding campaign has been started to help the family of a 24-year-old P.E.I. man who died in a motorcycle accident on the weekend.

The GoFundMe page “Timmy Harding Accident” raised more than half of its $2,000 goal within eight hours of being set up on Monday morning.

Timothy Andrew Harding of New Haven died after he lost control of his motorcycle on the Hillsborough Bridge on Sunday evening.

Chris Clow, the creator of the campaign, said all money raised will go towards assisting the Harding family with funeral expenses and any other costs incurred.

Clow, whose stepmother was also Harding’s aunt, said he grew up with many of Harding’s cousins and is close to the family.

“I do know he was always a helpful guy and was always happy,” said Clow. “Any time friends needed help or if someone was in the hospital, he was always the first to help.”

Although he was older than Harding, Clow said his first thought after hearing of the accident was wondering how he could help during the difficult time.

The page also saw several donors expressing their condolences to Harding’s family and remarking on the young man.

“Everyone loved him,” said Harding. “He was just a good kid.”

Harding was the son of Brian and Joyce Harding of New Haven.

The visitation for Harding will be held at Central Queens Funeral’s Home in New Glasgow, 6-9 p.m., Wednesday.

The funeral will be held in the funeral home chapel at 2 p.m. Thursday.

The full funeral announcement for Harding is on page B8 of today’s Guardian.
