The funeral for John Joseph “Joey” O’Brien was held on Saturday, April 29, 2017 from Belvedere Funeral Home to St. Eugene’s Church, Covehead where the mass was presided over by Fr. Keith Kennific, assisted by Fr. Charlie Cheverie. Fr. Keith Kennific proclaimed the Gospel and delivered the homily. The readings were proclaimed by Marlene Robinson and Faustina Gallant. Irma McQuillan led the Assembly in the Prayers of the Faithful. The organist was Francis Lamphier. During the mass, the church choir led the Assembly in singing Here I Am Lord, Come To The Water, Be Not Afraid and How Great Thou Art. Honorary pallbearer­s everyone present. Pallbearer­s were Michael Robichaud, Shawn McLernan, Jason McLernan, Scott O’Brien, Justin O’Brien, Jessie O’Brien and Zachary O’Brien. Flowerbear­ers were Jaclyn Robichaud, Jennifer Murnaghan, Jodi MacDonald, Josephine O’Brien and Shayla Gallant. Interment took place in St. Eugene’s Church Cemetery, where the prayers were led by Fr. Charlie Cheverie. Following the interment, everyone was invited to join the family for a reception in the church basement.

The funeral for Mary Georgina MacDonald of Stratford was held on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 from the Hennessey Cutcliffe Charlottet­own Funeral Home to Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Stratford. The funeral mass was offered by Reverend Benedict Paulraj who also delivered the homily. The first reading was proclaimed by Sherrie Goldstein, and the second reading was proclaimed by Ginelle MacDonald. The prayers of intercessi­on were offered by Darlene Peters. The funeral mass was sung by Our Lady of the Assumption funeral choir. The organist was Pat Steele. The choir sang the entrance hymn, Be Not Afraid, the offertory hymn, Morning Has Broken, the communion hymn, City of God, and the recessiona­l hymn, Amazing Grace. Fiddler Richard MacDonald rendered the instrument­al meditation piece, Neil Gows Lament. Pallbearer­s were Becky Coleman, Nickolas MacDonald, Gerald MacDonald, Steve MacDonald, Jacob Cormier and David MacDonald. The honorary pallbearer­s were everyone in attendance. The interment took place in Our Lady of the Assumption parish cemetery, where Rev. Benedict Paulraj held the graveside service.
