The funeral for “Billie” Doucette, beloved son of the late Thelma (MacDonald) Doucette and Bernie Doucette, of Charlottet­own and formerly of Rustico, was held on Tuesday, May 2, 2017, at St. Augustine’s Roman Catholic Church, Rustico. The pastor for the mass of Christian burial was Reverend Arulraj Santiago. The celebrant was Reverend Charles Cheverie, who also proclaimed the Gospel and delivered the homily. The first reading, from Isaiah, was addressed by sisterin-law, Dianne Doucette. The second reading, from I Corinthian­s, was addressed by niece, Shawna Taylor. The prayers of the faithful were led by brother, Wayne Doucette. The altar servers were Joseph O. Gallant and Linda Gallant. Bernadette Gallant and Roma Gallant assisted Father Cheverie and Father Raj as Eucharisti­c ministers. The music was provided by the church choir with Shane Arsenault as organist and Phyllis Arsenault as choir director. The hymns were Entrance, “On Eagle’s Wings”; Psalm, “Peace”; Gospel Acclamatio­n, “Alleluia”, with Phyllis Arsenault as cantor; offertory, “For Those Tears I Died”; communion, “You Are My Saviour”, sung by Phyllis Arsenault; commendati­on, “Songs of the Angels”; and recessiona­l, “Amazing Grace” followed by “Country Roads” led by Janice Blacquiere. Honorary pallbearer­s were everyone present. Bearers of honour were sister and brothers, Freda Peters, Wayne Doucette, Charles Doucette, Donald Doucette and Art Doucette. Flower bearers were Stephanie Peters, Paula Antinucci, Emerson Taylor, Sabrina Doucette, Rosemary Melanson, Leah Taylor and Bob and Keary Fulton -Wallace. Among those in attendance were representa­tives from Oak Tree Liquor Store and Tremploy. Interment took take place in St. Augustine’s Cemetery where Father Cheverie conducted the committal service. Arrangemen­ts were entrusted to Central Queen’s Funeral Home, New Glasgow.
