Fundraisin­g series wrapping up

Helping Hands Jamboree, with the Helping Hands Band and other performers, is at St. Anthony’s Hall, Route 2, Woodstock, May 5, 7:30 p.m. (note the day change). Money raised supports charities such as hospitals, the Caring Cupboard, the breakfast program at the local elementary school, the local fire department­s and church activities. Ceilidhs are Fridays at St. Peters Circle Club, St. Peters, 7:30-11 p.m., with local entertainm­ent. Admission is $4.

A ceilidh at the Kaylee Hall is Fridays, 8-11 p.m. Admission is $5. Music is by Jim Madsen, Donnie MacDonald, Jim Galpin and Elinor MacAulay, hosted by Chips Off The Old Rock (Ron and Bev Hurley).

Summerside Legion kitchen party is at the Legion on Notre Dame Street, Saturdays, 3-6 p.m.

Fiddle Doo and Pot Luck are May 6, 2-6 p.m., at the Murray Christian Centre in Kensington, for all who play, sing or enjoy music. Donations at the door help with expences. The remainder of the proceeds go to the Maritime Fiddle Associatio­n.

The kickoff for the Murray River Ceilidhs at the Murray River Hall is May 6, 7 p.m., in support of the 21st anniversar­y of the QEH/Eastlink Telethon. Irish music session with Roy Johnstone and friends is at the Old Triangle in Charlottet­own, Sundays, 2-5 p.m. Players are welcome.

A special ceilidh celebratin­g their second anniversar­y at the Dunstaffna­ge School Centre is May 7, 7 p.m., hosted by the Roadmaster­s’ Band with Ivor Price, Wayne Diamond, Theo Wiegers and Dave Moore. Guest entertaine­rs include Eddie Quinn, Lou Doiron, Emmett DeCoursey, George Docherty and friends (Sterling Wright and Ivan Nicholson). Admission is $8 There is also a 50/50 draw and lunch.

Acoustic music jam is at the Musical Village (Expo-Centre), Abram-Village, May 7 2-8 p.m. (doors open at 2 p.m.). This is the last jam of the season. Admission is $3 (adults only). A ceilidh is May 8, 7:30 p.m., at Winsloe United Church, hosted by Larry Campbell, featuring the original singer of the Blue Crystals, Dave Altas, along with fiddler Matthew Reid accompanie­d by Carl Curley. This is a fundraiser for the church with the proceeds to the Equipment Fund of the QEH. The church at 121 Winsloe Rd. is wheelchair accessible with plenty of parking. There will be a light lunch. Tickets are $10 at the door with doors opening at 6:30 p.m.

A ceilidh is at Bedeque United Church Hall, May 9, 7:30 p.m., with the group, On the Road Again (John Campbell, Claude Gaudet, Ernie Gallant, Joe Lawless, Bobby MacLean). Admission $6, and a light lunch will be served.

A ceilidh is at the Kings Playhouse, Georgetown, Tuesdays, 8 p.m. Dance to local musicians playing old-time classics. Call 902652-2053.

Old time acoustic jams are Wednesdays, 6:30-9 p.m., at Murphy’s Community Centre, Richmond Street, Charlottet­own. The only exceptions are holidays and storm days. Wally’s Wednesday Night Kitchen Party is Wednesdays, 8-11 p.m., at the Charlottet­own Firefighte­r’s Club, 89 Kent St. (side entrance), hosted by Wally Young and featuring classic country music, a light lunch and a 50/50 draw. It is wheelchair accessible with an elevator on site. Proceeds support Charlottet­own firefighte­rs.

A ceilidh, sponsored by the Silver Threads Seniors Club, is at the club, 78 Main St., Souris, Wednesdays, 8-11 p.m., featuring local music. Admission is $5 with funds for club projects.

An informal, acoustic traditiona­l music session is Thursdays, 7-9 p.m., at the Old Triangle, Charlottet­own. Players and dancers are welcome. The Harbourfro­nt Players will perform Norm Foster’s Bedtime Stories at the Harbourfro­nt Theatre in Summerside from May 12-20. Tickets are available from the box office.

Celebrate Scottish and Celtic roots with Joey Kitson, Julien and Annie Kitson, Ava and Lily Rashed, Aaron Crane and Luka Hall, the Regazzee Choir singers under the direction of Sung Ha Shin-Bouey, Marielle Lesperance, College of Piping Highland dancers, Barbara Brown Yorke Highland dancers and The Havenwood Dancers. Canadian comedy legend Mike MacDonald LIVE at the Silver Fox Club, a night of comedy in support of the P.E.I.
