Looking for world peace

True peace can only be found in Jesus

Much of the world is on a search for peace. There are citizens in war-torn nations who would do anything for peace. While this is tragic for those suffering in the field of war, many in North America are on a similar search for peace.

The search for peace is a worldwide passion because true peace has much more to do with having peace with God than any peace the natural world has to offer. Some might say there are many roads to peace, and while there are many ways to find solitude in this world, there is no peace to be had in the many practices promoted by the world.

Peace is actually a person. In fact, the only true road to peace can be found in Jesus. Ephesians 2:14 tells us, “He is our peace.” This could not be clearer.

The writer of the book of Hebrews calls our Father “the God of all peace”.

If God has all peace then there is no way to get peace other than by coming to Him. Outside of Him there is no peace to be had. Psalm 29:11 says, “The Lord will give strength to His people; The Lordwill bless His people with peace.”

To seek peace is to seek Jesus. When Jesus departed this world, he assured his disciples, “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you” (John 14:27).

He is ever with us and as we take time to cultivate sensitivity towards His presence we will know a peace that passes understanding. In that peace we find an awesome sense of safety because scripture says God is love. Therefore to be in God’s presence is to be in love and perfect love casts out fear.

There has never been a time in history when so much information was available to so many people as the time we live in now. Unfortunately much of the information about what is happening in the world has a negative bias. This is part of a strategy to bring confusion and hopelessness to the minds of those who receive this negative bent on world affairs.

The enemy of all God’s creation desires to destroy His masterpiece creation. He uses a strategy of promoting fear to move you from your place of walking in peace with God. Satan, being the master deceiver, spreads every negative morsel of news around the world to deceive people into thinking the world is getting more dangerous by the day. This is a fabrication of lies.

Statistics tell us that deaths from war and violence are at an all-time low. However, there seems to be constant media attention on every violent act. This is an attempt to bring the masses into a state of fear and confusion.

Fear is the agent the enemy uses to disrupt your life, rob you of peace and get you into a state of anxiety and hopelessness. Yet in Isaiah 26:3 the prophet said, “You [God] will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.”

True peace can only be found in Jesus. In fact, scripture refers to Jesus as “the Prince of Peace”.

If we will turn our ears from the constant barrage of negative information coming from media outlets around the world and focus on Jesus and all that He has done for us, we will find the peace that so many are longing for.

The apostle Paul tells us to “Set your mind on things above,”
