Saturday, May 13, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., for the annual St. Mark’s Compost Sale at St. Mark’s Presbyteri­an Church, 7 Tamarac Ave., Charlottet­own. Compost will be available in the church parking lot either by the bag or in bulk. Proceeds from this sale will be used to support the various missions at St. Mark’s.

Saturday, May 13, for a giant yard sale being planned by and in support of KARSI - the Kensington Area Refugee Sponsorshi­p Initiative. It will be held on the grounds of Gallery 18, 10686 Route 6, New London. The sale is scheduled to get underway at 9 a.m., rain or shine.

Saturday, May 13, 8:30 a.m.-12 p.m. for a yard and bake sale at St. Columba Presbyteri­an Church, 14173 St. Peters Highway. Enjoy delicious baked goods and find interestin­g and useful treasures. Money raised will go to support the church.

Sunday, May 14, 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., for the St. James Presbyteri­an Church (“The Kirk”) 14th annual Mother’s Day lobster plate take-out fundraiser. Money raised will support various projects at St. James Presbyteri­an Church, 35 Fitzroy St., Charlottet­own. Tickets are $20 for a lobster in the shell (cracked), potato salad, coleslaw, a roll and carrot cake. Wednesday, May 17, for “Dinner In Italy” being put on by the Montague 50 Plus Seniors Club at the Montague Legion, Douses Road. Advance reservatio­n tickets may be purchased at the Montague Legion Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. or contact Helen Stewart, 902-838-2488. Tickets are $15 for adults, with children 12 and under, $8. The deadline to purchase tickets is May 15.

Thursday, May 18, 6:30-7:30 p.m., for “Waters Cool!” - Water Conservati­on and Watershed Education Program at the Stratford Town Hall. This popular education program for Grade 5 students is being opened up to the public to enjoy. Dan McAskill will be the interprete­r for the Birding and History Hike at Pigot’s Trail on May 6. Meet at Indigo parking lot in Charlottet­own for carpooling at 8:15 a.m. to leave at 8:30 a.m. sharp or at the Hillsborou­gh River Eco-Centre at 9 a.m. Bring binoculars. The Hillsborou­gh Canadian Heritage River Canada 150 event is cosponsore­d by Trails-for-All, Island Trails, Wednesday Hikes and the Hillsborou­gh River Associatio­n.

Smelt Festival is Saturday, May 6, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., at 66 Whittlesy Lane, Pisquid (off Joey’s Road, follow the signs). It includes an interactiv­e hike by Glen Kelly, River Tours, a geocache session, a smelt fry, barbecue, children’s farm tour and native tree giveaway.
