Trampoline park company opening inflatable obstacle course on Summerside waterfront this summer
Downtown Summerside is getting a big new attraction this summer.
The co-owners of Off the Wallz trampoline park in Slemon Park, plus a new investor, are awaiting the delivery of a 210-by-70-foot floating, inflatable obstacle course.
They say it’s the first of its kind in the Maritimes and they’re calling it Off the Wallz Splash Park.
“I can’t wait to jump on it,” said Scott MacGregor, the new investor joining Off the Wallz owners Jason Wall and Steve Darrach in the new venture.
MacGregor said the idea for the business came after Wall and Darrach saw similar attractions in other parts of Canada.
They thought it would be a good fit for Summerside after the success of their trampoline park and the easy access to the waterfront here. The owners are also Summerside-area residents and said they wanted to invest in their community.
The park structure itself is made up of individual components that connect together. They are currently being built elsewhere.
Once delivered, the course will be installed between the Marine Wharf and Holman’s Wharf.
The course itself has all kinds of obstacles to climb on, slide down, jump on and be catapulted from.
“You’re right in the water, so you just climb back on and keep running, playing, whatever you gotta do,” said MacGregor.
Anyone aged five years and up can participate and everyone on the course will be required to wear lifejackets. Entrance fee structures are still being ironed out.
They expect to hire between 10 and 15 people to manage the facility, all of which will receive open water safety certification and other applicable training.
The entrepreneurs expect to be open by about June 24 with a grand opening on Canada Day.
