Celtic Flavour in St. Paul’s Church

Band performs a wide variety of sacred and secular Celtic music

-

Celtic Flavour is performing in Charlottetown at St. Paul’s Church Saturday at 7 p.m. and a freewill offering will be accepted.

Celtic Flavour began in 2009 as a one-time “get-together” to sing at a Celtic coffee house. It was so very well received and enjoyed that the members decided to continue. Over the past seven years, Celtic Flavour has increased in numbers and continued to meet and expand its repertoire.

The band has travelled throughout the provinces of Nova Scotia and New Brunswick raising money for local churches and community outreach projects.

They have taken part in worship services and performed full-length concerts and, to date, have helped to raise over $15,000.

In January 2012, Celtic Flavour took part in the first benefit concert for Beacon House, a food bank.

The concert received rave reviews from a very appreciative audience. The second benefit concert for Beacon House was held in January 2014 and the most heard comment after the concert was, “when is the next one?”

For the past five years, Celtic Flavour has been the featured entertainment for the Robbie Burns Dinner held by the Nova Scotia Federation for Scottish Culture. The band has been part of Nova Scotia Tartan Day celebrations at Government House in 2013, 2014 and 2015.

Celtic Flavour performs a wide variety of sacred and secular traditional Irish, Scottish and Welsh music, some Nova Scotia favourites and, on occasion, some favourite Gospel music. The members come from varied musical backgrounds, but the collective love of music brings them together in harmony.

Their wish is that their love of music shines through in each performance and that the audience goes away with toes tapping and a song in their hearts.
