Bluefield High School

2017 Yearbooks are on sale. They will be delivered in the first week of June so that students can get them signed. Cost is $45 prepaid.

A reminder that the Arts Coffee House is May 25 at 7 p.m. Everyone, including members, are welcome.

The Chem Free for all grads is June 2 at Bluefield in the cafeteria.

Montague Regional High School

“MRHS Band Goes Haywire” is May 23, 7 p.m., in the cafetorium of the school. The MRHS R&B and concert band students will play, as well as plenty of MRHS music alumni. Special guest is Marvin Birt from Haywire. Tickets are $5 for adults and $4 for students.

A student loan presentati­on is in room 224 on May 23 6-7 p.m.

On May 25 at 7 p.m., in the cafeteria, the MRHS Vocal Music Department presents “MRHS Sings for Canada!”, an evening of Canadian pop music celebratin­g Canada’s 150 birthday, featuring the choir, Here Comes Treble, the Songbirds and The Harmonic Six. Tickets are $6 or $5 for students and seniors. There will be a cake auction and treats sale.

MRHS hosts Relay for Life May 26, 5-11 p.m., for the Canadian Cancer Society. The public is invited to enjoy a barbecue, dunk tank and live entertainm­ent. For informatio­n, email Matt Kelly at mkelly@ edu.pe.ca.

On May 28 at 9 a.m., at the Montague waterfront, the MRHS Disney Choir will host the first Disney Choir 5K/10K Fun Run/ Walk. The cost is $10 per person and $5 for children under 12. There will be treats for those in costume as their favourite Disney character.

Colonel Gray High School

On May 27, upstairs in the Confederat­ion Court Mall, Colonel Gray Grade 11 and 12 art students will be presenting their final pieces for public viewing between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Much of this artwork will also be available for sale.

Parents are reminded to ask their son or daughter for a copy of the graduation memo given out at the meeting. Extra copies will be available in the main office.

The Graymies will be the evening of May 30 in the Colonel Gray cafeteria at 7 p.m.

Any student who hasn’t yet finalized registrati­on for next year’s course selection, should see either the Main Office or Student Services.

Charlottet­own Rural High School

The student council is holding a pre-exam tailgate party on May 26, 3:30-6 p.m. As part of this celebratio­n, staff and students are to wear red and white. Show Raider pride and watch the AAA women’s and men’s rugby games. There will be food for sale at the event as well as fun activities and music before the games.

Grade 12 French immersion students completed a week of DELF (diplôme d’études en langue française) exams this past week. These diplomas, awarded by the ministry of education in France, prove the French-language skills of students. The Charlottet­own Rural Raiders 5km Fun Run and Walk is May 27, 9 a.m. Registrati­on is $10, 8-9 a.m., in the main lobby of the school. This is a fundraiser for leadership student initiative­s. There will also be music, prizes and a 300-metre kids’ run. This event is sanctioned by the P.E.I. Roadrunner­s.

Kinkora Regional High School

On May 30, the annual KRHS Coffee House is at 6:30 p.m.

The School Council meets May 31, 7 p.m. All parents/guardians are welcome.

Individual­s, businesses, or community groups wishing to donate to the Kinkora Regional High School Prize Fund may do so prior to June 9 in order to be acknowledg­ed in the program. If tax receipt is required, make cheques payable to the Western School Board Education Trust. If no tax receipt is required, cheques can be made payable to Kinkora Regional High School. Grade 12 students Alex Phillips and Nick Henderson won gold in robotics at the 2017 P.E.I. Provincial Skills Canada Competitio­n on March 7. They and teacher Ryan McAleer will now represent the province at the National Skills Canada Competitio­n in Winnipeg, Manitoba, May 31 to June 3.

Westisle Composite

The Grade 12 students will be participat­ing in the PARTY Program on May 25 during first period. It is designed to help students make informed, smart decisions regarding prom weekend.

The last Parent Council meeting is May 30, 7 p.m., in the library. All are welcome.
