Mr Irresistible overpowers Adkins Hanover to repeat in Charlottetown
The ‘King’ of Island racing continued his red-hot streak and stole the show Sunday as the best three-year-old pacers in the Maritimes invaded Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway. Marc Campbell won five stakes races on the program from his own stable.
The card featured three-year- old pacing fillies competing in four divisions of the Ruby Chappell Memorial Stakes and three-year-old pacing colts facing off in the Bob Dewar Memorial Stake. Campbell trainees captured three Chappell divisions with Elektra Express winning the fastest split in 1:56.3 for the trainerdriver and owner Danica Ellis of Nova Scotia. Campbell’s other Chappell victories came aboard Elm Grove Ladyluck in 1:57.1 and Filly Forty Seven in 1:57.4. The other $6,550 filly division was claimed by Kinda Like Her in 1:58.1 as part of a driving triple for Kenny Arsenault.
In Dewar action, Campbell went down the highway with Island Energetic in 1:56.3 to extend the colt’s win streak to five in a row and keep him the undefeated season going. The three-year-old son of Articulator is owned by Paul Gray and Bernadette Burgess of Nova Scotia.
Ryans Allstar also won his $6,550 Dewar division in 1:57.3 for Campbell, while the other divisions were won by Tobinator in 1:58.3 for driver Corey MacPherson and trainer Trevor Hicken, and Complete Player in 1:56.3 as he remains unbeaten in stakes action so far in the season.
Mark Bradley drove Complete Player for trainer Tom Weatherbie and owner David Kennedy of Charlottetown.
Heart And Soul won the $2,400 preferred pace in 1:56.1 for trainer-driver Clare MacDonald of Nova Scotia and local owner Riley Farms Ltd., of Summerside.
