Students busy with year-end activities
Montague High
A parent council meeting is today, 5:30-6:30 p.m., in the library conference room.
The awards banquet is May 30, 5-7:30 p.m., in the cafeteria. Student awards from various clubs and athletics will be presented, along with Viking pins to graduating students.
Graduation award applications are due June 2 to Student services. Apply via the Google Classroom for MRHS School Prizes, code d8keq4d.

Colonel Gray High School
Today, there will be a meeting for graduates to vote on a valedictorian and receive important details of upcoming events. Parents are reminded to ask their son or daughter for a copy of the graduation memo given out at the meeting. Extra copies will be available in the main office.
Final transcript request forms will also be distributed at this same assembly, encouraging students to return these to student services before writing final exams.
The Graymies will be on May 30, 7 p.m., in the Colonel Gray cafeteria at 7 p.m.
There will be a band concert on June 1 at 7 p.m. in the cafeteria.
A retirement tea to celebrate the teaching careers of Susan Joy Nowe and Nora Wotton will be held on June 6 in the library June 6, 3:30-5 p.m. All are welcome.
Graduates should give a copy of any accepted scholarship offers to student services. Only submitted offers, that CG has been made aware of, will be announced at the graduation ceremony on June 26.
Charlottetown Rural High School
Final exams begin at Charlottetown Rural on June 9. The full exam schedule is now available on the school website.
Students wishing to register for summer school are asked to inform Student Services as soon as possible. Classes being offered are EAL 701A, 701B, 701C and 701D and English 421, 521 and 621, Co-op 501 and 601, Physics 521 and CEO 401.
KINKORA REGIONAL HIGH SCHOOL
School Council meets at 7 p.m. All parents/guardians are welcome and encouraged to attend.
Last day of classes for Grade 12s is June 8. Lockers must be cleaned out.
Closing supper and social for ADP students is June 8. Final exams run from June 9-21.
The 55th annual commencement exercises of Kinkora Regional High School will take place on June 22 at 7 p.m.Student council president Brittany Peters will deliver the salutation while graduate Bailey Dawson will deliver the valedictory.
Appreciation is expressed to graduate Brittany Peters and her parents, Darren and Brenda, for hosting the annual grad barbecue on June 14. Also to graduate Bronwyn Roberts and her parents, Austin and Ramona, for hosting the annual grad breakfast on the morning of June 22.
Individuals, businesses, or community groups wishing to donate to the Kinkora Regional High School Prize Fund may do so prior to June 9 in to be acknowledged in the program. If tax receipt is required, make cheques payable to the Western School Board Education Trust. If no tax receipt is required, cheques can be made payable to Kinkora Regional High School.
Closing supper for academy diploma in agriculture and bioscience students will take place June 9. Appreciation is expressed to Jessica Reeves for her efforts throughout the year.
Grade 12 students Alex Phillips and Nick Henderson won gold in robotics at the 2017 P.E.I. Provincial Skills Canada Competition. They will now represent their province at the National Skills Canada Competition in Winnipeg, Manitoba from May 31-June 3.
Westisle Composite High School
The last parent council meeting is May 30, 7 p.m., in the library. All are welcome to attend.
SMA/B/K will be written for Grade 11 students on June 9. This will be the last day of classes for all other students. Exams will run as follows: Period 4, June 12; Period 3, June 13; Period 2, June 14 and Period 1, June 15.
The art teachers association is seeking schools for participation in a collaborative art piece that will be displayed at The Guild to celebrate Canada’s 150th year. WCHS can submit 1-3 pieces. These must be completed by June 2 so that they can be sent down in time. Interested students should see Mrs. Morrison-Robinson for more information.

Oak Acres Children’s Camp is looking for counselors-intraining (CITs) for the upcoming summer. CITs are students, aged 14-16, who help supervise, plan events, and lead activities for campers between the ages of 7 and 12, depending on the session. This position is ideal for anyone with an interest in the outdoors, leadership, and creativity. For more information see guidance.
Western Hospital and Community Hospital, O’Leary has volunteer positions available including information desk clerk, mealtime setup helper, musical entertainer, friendly visitor, gardener and more. Hours contributed can be counted toward the community service bursary.
