Talking about principles
P.E.I. Working Group for Livable Income hosting forums featuring MLAs
The P.E.I. Working Group for a Livable Income (WGLI) is inviting political parties to co-present a series of public forums on basic income guarantee.
An MLA from each of the three elected parties, as well as the leader of the New Democratic Party of P.E.I. will host a forum in their own electoral district.
WGLI has been working on basic income guarantee for five years. After community meetings, discussions with policy makers and interaction with the media, it has developed a made-in-P.E.I. set of principles which could guide a basic income pilot project on the Island. These principles will be presented at the forums with an opportunity for input, discussion, presentations, questions and new ideas.
All forums begin at 6:30 p.m., are free and will be cofacilitated by a member of the working group. Following is the schedule:
June 6 - District 3 MontagueKilmuir. Co-presenters: Mike Redmond with Marie Burge and Edith Perry at Lanes Cottages and Hotel, 33 Brook St., Montague. To register: (902892-6206) or thielel@bellaliant. net.
