The funeral for Betty McKenna, of North Rustico, was held on Friday, June 2, 2017, at Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church, North Rustico. The pastor for the mass of Christian burial was Reverend Arulraj Santiago. The celebrant was Reverend Brendon Gallant, who also proclaimed the Gospel and delivered the homily. The first reading, from Ecclesiast­es, was addressed by daughter, Heather McKenna. The second reading, from II Timothy, was addressed by sister-in-law, Joan Gallant. The prayers of the faithful were led by son-in-law, Errol Creery. The altar servers were Curtis Gallant, Norman Gallant, Peter Gallant and Joan Doiron who also assisted Father Gallant as a eucharisti­c minister. Andy Turner distribute­d the bulletins. The music was provided by the church choir with Sister Phyllis Gallant, CND, as organist; Noreen Down as song leader; and by soloist, Eddie Doiron. The hymns were Entrance, “Be Not Afraid”; Psalm, “In the Lord’s Own House”, with Noreen Down as cantor; Gospel Acclamatio­n, “Celtic Alleluia”, with Noreen Down as Cantor; offertory, “Amazing Grace”; communion, “Here I Am, Lord”; post communion, “One Day at a Time; commendati­on, “Songs of the Angels”; and recessiona­l, “Halleluiah”. Honorary Pallbearer­s were everyone present. Bearer of honour was daughter, Heather McKenna. Flower bearers were granddaugh­ters. Interment took place in Church Cemetery where Father Gallant conducted the committal service. Arrangemen­ts were entrusted to Central Queen`s Funeral Home, New Glasgow, P.E.I.
