Fundraiser­s

The Wheatley River 4-H Club is holding a community yard sale at the Milton Community Hall - (7 New Glasgow Rd. - Route 224, in North Milton) on Saturday, June 10, 8 a.m. to noon. To rent a table, contact the hall at 902-566-3154 ($10 for a six-foot table). Baked goods and a variety of household items will be available for sale. This is a fundraiser to help buy a 4-H family a wheelchair accessible van.

The Seniors Active Living Centre, Bell Aliant Centre, UPEI, will hold a yard sale on Saturday, June 10 between 8:30 a.m. and noon. It includes household items, clothing, books and puzzles.

Spring roast beef dinner is Saturday, June 10, at Central Queens United Church, Hunter River, with three seatings: 4 p.m., 5:30 p.m. and 6:45 p.m., with take-outs available for pick-up at 3 p.m. Enjoy a hot meal with all the trimmings followed by a tasty strawberry shortcake and other assorted cakes Tickets are $15/adult, $7/child (six to 12 years of age), and free for under six. Browse the bazaar table filled with baked goods and crafts. Tickets should be ordered in advance from Debbie at 902-9642882.

Community

A pancake breakfast will be held June 10, 8:30-10:30 a.m., in Rochford Square, Charlottet­own (rain location: Fire Station #1). Join Mayor Clifford Lee and city councillor­s for a traditiona­l morning rise and shine civic birthday event. Enjoy free pancakes, juice, sausages and coffee, along with live entertainm­ent.

A senior’s social is June 10 at Murphy’s Community Centre, Richmond Street, Charlottet­own, 2-4 p.m. Join Mayor Clifford Lee and Charlottet­own city council for an afternoon of entertainm­ent and refreshmen­ts. Transit bus pickups will begin at 1 p.m. There is free admission.

Special service

St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church, Crapaud will host a Rogation Service, “The Blessing of Stewards of Land & Sea”, at the Sherren Family Farm, “The Barn Floor”, 734 Route 13, Crapaud, on Sunday, June 11, 2 p.m. The guest preacher will be the Rt. Rev. Ron Cutler, bishop of Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island. Music ministry will be provided by the Linda and Ed Doiron. The public is invited to celebrate and give thanks for the Island’s agricultur­al and fishing communitie­s. A reception will follow. A free will offering will be received. Call 902-621-2920.
