Annual P.E.I. Bluegrass and Old Time Music Society Festival

-

Bluegrass and old time music right out of the “hills and hollers” of Appalachia meets up with musicians and fans again on Prince Edward Island this summer as the 32nd annual P.E.I. Bluegrass and Old Time Music Society Festival.

This American music forged from the English, Irish and Scottish folk ballads found a home on the East Coast of Canada many years ago, and the festival born.

This year’s show is back on the festival grounds in Rollo Bay, July 7-9.

The main stage show begins on Friday, July 7, 12:30 p.m., and will continue through until Sunday afternoon with off-stage jamming happening around the clock.

This family event hosts instrument workshops, a songwriters’ circle, jams, a children’s program, church service and 14 main stage acts.

Sideline, Lost and Found and Salt and Light will be the U.S. headline acts this year. Atlantic Canada popular bands will include Ray Leger and Acoustic Horizon, Bluegrass Diamonds, Gordie MacKeeman and His Rhythm Boys, Janet McGarry and Wildwood, Bluegrass Revival, Blue Zone, Two + Three, SK Bluegrass, Just Grass and Dunromin.

The gate opens on Wednesday, July 5, at 1 p.m. An open mic kicks off the music on stage in the shelter at 7 p.m. There will be lots of music and events for the whole family. Rough camping is included in the weekend pass.

Day passes are available for each day over the weekend. For price and other details, check http://peibluegrass.tripod. com/annual-festival-new-info. html or phone 902-569-4501 or 902-566-2641.
