Lot 7 Ceilidh season begins

The ceilidh season is approachin­g and will begin on June 29 at 7:30 p.m. and entertainm­ent for the first show will include Jordan LeClair, Michael Richard and Cyndi and Meredith Rix.

Ceilidhs run every Thursday from June 29 to Oct. 5, treating audiences to some of the best entertaine­rs Prince Edward Island has to offer.

Ceilidhs take place at St. Mark’s Hall, Burton, in western P.E.I. An Irish lunch is served during intermissi­on. There is also door prize and a 50/50 draw, as well as a gift for the person who has travelled the farthest.

The July 7 ceilidh will feature Victor and Kathy Doucette with several members of the Doucette family.

On July 13, audiences will see a return of the famous Helping Hands Band with Corey Gallant and Ffriends.

On July 20- 21, two performanc­es will feature Ivan and Vivian Hicks from New Brunswick. They are distinguis­hed for their contributi­on to preserve and promote ole-time fiddling throughout North America. Their music has roots steeped in tradition and their approach to getting it into the hearts and minds of people is modern and innovative. Ivan is a member of the North American Fiddlers Hall of Fame. He is an accomplish­ed composer, recording artist, performer and a lively ambassador for Atlantic Canada’s heritage.

Within his own community he was a co-founder of the Riverview Arts Centre. Tickets for the two concerts can be arranged by phoning 902-859-2803 or 902393-8528. Admission will also be available at the door on each evening.

Ceilidhs continue on July 27 with Kenny Chaisson and daughter, Darla MacPhee. They will be joined by soloist, Joselyn Ludgate, a former member of the group, Celtic Ladies, as well as Callie and Ryan Getson.
