Choir takes stage

Fiddlers’ Sons and Keelin Wedge welcome a choir visiting from First Parish Church in Brunswick, Me. for a special concert June 26 at 8 p.m.in Kaylee Hall at Pooles Corner.

Fiddlers’ Sons will play the first half of the concert and preview material from its soon-to-be-released album – “Fiddlers’ Sons The Best Of Twenty Years”.

First Parish Choir, under the direction of Ray Cornils, will play the second half of the concert. The 80-voice adult choir sings a variety of choral literature. The touring choir will include approximat­ely 60 singers and 20 non-singers. They come from varied profession­s and walks of life. Past concert tours include England and Scotland in 2003, Ireland, Wales and England in 2006, Ecuador in 2009 and Portugal in 2012. The touring repertoire is based on the selected venues.

During the choir’s visit to the Maritimes it hopes to gain a greater understand­ing of Atlantic Canada and its people, visit regional attraction­s and sites of historic interests, perform in acoustical­ly-pleasing and historical­ly significan­t locations, expand musical experience­s, share the joys of singing with partner choirs and serve as musical ambassador­s from the United States and Maine. They also strive to provide community service and do local charity work.

The Kaylee Hall, Pooles Corner is located at the intersecti­on of routes 3 and 4 near Montague. There will be a 50/50 draw, canteen service and CDs available for sale during intermissi­on. Admission is $15 at the door.
