Avonlea Showband returns

Final show in ‘Kitchen Table’ series

-

The Kitchen Table Concert Series at the downtown Guild will close Monday night with a rare appearance by the Avonlea Showband.

This quartet was formed 10 years ago to headline at Avonlea Village in the Fishing Shanty, and in the following years it has continued to bring a lively and comical slant to stages across the Island.

The band consists of Leon Gallant, Michael Pendergast, Remi Arsenault, and Brendan Peters. It presents a full range of Island folk songs old and new, comical and heart-warming.

This appearance on Monday will be their only one this summer with each member busy with their own musical projects.

Arsenault plays daily this summer at the Acadian Village in the Evangeline area and will play in The new show “If It’s Alright With You”. Gallant returns to Stanley Bridge Hall on Tuesdays and Fridays. And Pendergast will be at the Stompin’ Tom Interpretive Centre Mondays, Clinton Hills Barn on Sundays and Tuesdays for “Run For The Hills” and ceilidhs at Stanley Bridge and Malpeque.

Together the three bring a wealth of local musical knowledge to the stage and combine it with the spoon playing mastery of their musical partner, Brendan Peters, a Rustico fixture.

The Guild is at 111 Queen St., Charlottetown. Showtime is 8 p.m. Tickets are available at the box office at 1-866-773-0717 or online at boxoffice@theguildpei.com.
