Police nab suspects

RCMP say they averted robberies

Kingston RCMP say they have averted break and enters and armed robberies that were alleged to have been planned in the Kentville and Annapolis Royal areas.

As a result, three individual­s from Digby County are facing charges.

In a media release issued Saturday, the RCMP say at 7 p.m. on June 22, Kingston RCMP received informatio­n that individual­s were planning to commit break and enters and armed robberies into a residence and businesses in the Kentville and Annapolis Royal areas. None of these allegation­s have been proven in court.

As a result of a traffic stop the police conducted, the RCMP say they located suspects who were arrested without incident. Upon searching the vehicle, the media release says officers seized a replica pistol (firearm), a knife, bandanas, and breaking and entering tools.

Joel Andre Gaudet, 20, of Church Point is charged with Conspiring or Planning to Commit a Robbery, Conspiring or Planning to Commit a Break and Enter, Possessing Instrument­s or Tools for the Purpose of Breaking into a Place, two counts of Possessing a Weapon Dangerous to the Public Peace and two counts of Failing to Comply with Probation.

Kaileyne Laura Anne Thomas, 23, of Church Point is charged with Conspiring or Planning to Commit a Robbery, Conspiring or Planning to Commit a Break and Enter, Possessing Instrument­s or Tools for the Purpose of Breaking into a Place, and two counts of Possessing a Weapon Dangerous to the Public Peace.

Logan Cromwell, 18, of Hilltown is charged with Conspiring or Planning to Commit a Robbery, Conspiring or Planning to Commit a Break and Enter, Possessing Instrument­s or Tools for the Purpose of Breaking into a Place, and two counts of Possessing a Weapon Dangerous to the Public Peace.
